Marianne transitioned to education from a clinical, mental health background. She is a qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) and has previously worked within NHS Talking Therapies services and within Occupational Health for the HM Prison and Probation services.

Marianne’s role in education focuses on partnership courses with NHS England. She is extremely passionate about widening the mental health workforce to support patients with a range of mental health difficulties, particularly post Covid-19 pandemic. She previously led the PWP training course at another Midlands HEI, before moving to the 51ÊÓƵ in 2022 to course lead the new Mental Health Wellbeing Practitioner (MHWP) course.

Marianne is Co-Deputy Chair of the BPS MHWP Training Committee, an active member of the Midlands Psychological Professions Network and the MHWP Higher Education Consortium.

  • BSc Applied (Clinical) Psychology with Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner qualification
  • MSc (Oxon.), Child Development and Education
  • PG Dip High Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy 

Teaching Interests

Marianne is a full-time lecturer and Personal Academic Tutor (PAT) on the MHWP training course. The course employs and trains students in NHS Secondary Care services to work clinically with adults experiencing severe mental health difficulties. The course teaches CBT-based assessment and intervention skills.
