Justine is a part-time PhD student in the School of Allied Health & Community at the 51ÊÓƵ.
Justine’s main research interest is the extra-intestinal manifestations (that occur outside of the digestive tract) of coeliac disease and gluten sensitivity and particularly how these can affect overall health and wellbeing. She is interested in the management of digestive disorders, auto-immune issues, women’s health, infertility and mental health. She has worked on several research projects in these areas and on educational texts for health professionals exploring these topics.
Her PhD is by prior publication and is a retrospective synthesis of a portfolio of academic outputs including peer-reviewed research chapters and textbooks including patient narratives where she is either first author or co-author to critically examine what she perceives as the ‘nutrition and gluten gap’ in clinical health professional and medical education.
Her mentor is Professor Eleanor Bradley.
Justine also works part-time as a Programme Director for Continuing Professional Development in the Centre for Medical Education within the School of Medicine at Cardiff University.
