Dr Mark Corbett joined the 51ÊÓƵ in 2008 from the Ministry of Defence with a background in optics and thermal imaging. His PhD examined nonlinear absorption of ultrafast laser pulses in semiconductors.

His main interest now is biomechanics for sports and healthcare with extensive research experience in data acquisition and processing. Marks teaching areas are in human and animal movement (kinesiology, kinematics and kinetics). His research interests include cycling biomechanics, muscle fatigue with electromyography and clinical gait analysis.

Mark is an experienced cyclist, racing in time trials and road races. He has used his knowledge to develop a popular cycle fitting service at the Motion and Performance Centre.
